An Aplington woman was transported to Covenant Hospital in Waterloo after a one-vehicle rollover on T19 southwest of Aplington on Sunday evening.
           
According to a police report, 49-year-old Renee Grace left the Aplington Casey’s and lost control of her 2007 Ford Escape at about 8:35 p.m. on her way to work in Eldora due to snow and ice. A Casey’s employee headed in the same direction discovered her vehicle and alerted authorities, and the Aplington Fire Department was the first agency on the scene.
           

Eventually, the weather's going to get decent enough where most of the student-athletes at area high schools can get into competition for the season.
 
While northern Iowa continues to thaw out, here's some things to keep an eye on in the months to come.
 

GRUNDY COUNTY – Recently, the Butler-Grundy Development Alliance announced its plans to apply for a USDA-funded Rural Business Development grant, which would help the Alliance fund a much-needed Housing Needs Assessment survey across Grundy and Butler counties.
 
BGDA Executive Director Jeff Kolb says he and the board both feel the need for a housing assessment is extremely strong, as it has been about 20 years since the last housing assessment was done here.
 

The expansive, mostly rural areas of Butler, Grundy, Hardin and Story Counties that comprise state senate district 25 will move into the spotlight next Tuesday as a special election to fill a seat vacated by former Majority Leader Bill Dix could set the tone for November and play a crucial role in determining the balance of power in Des Moines.
