Grassley: 'I don't know if Trump is really against wind energy'

Chuck Grassley and Donald Trump agree on a lot, but on one topic near and dear to the Senator’s heart, he and the President are miles apart.
           
Grassley, who is known as the father of the federal wind energy tax credit, took umbrage with Trump’s recent claim that wind turbines cause cancer, and in an interview with The Grundy Register after a meeting in Wellsburg on Tuesday morning, he offered up his thoughts on a variety of topics including wind, the Mueller report, defense spending and traveling with a security detail.
           

Leland Wiseman

Leland Wiseman, 90, went home to be with our Lord on Monday, April 22, 2019, at Grandview Heights Rehab and Healthcare in Marshalltown. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, April 26, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 27 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend John Witmer officiating.

A team of their own: Community members, students make a case for GC wrestling program

It’s been over 20 years since Grundy Center has had their own wrestling program, but student wrestlers, parents and community members are hoping for a Spartan wrestling revival.
 
During Wednesday night’s Grundy Center School Board meeting, community members, students and coaches packed into the board’s meeting room to convince the board that Grundy Center is ready to start its own, independent wrestling program.
 

Building a healthy community: GC Wellness Committee leads community garden revival efforts

A group of dedicated volunteers and members of the local Wellness Committee are leading the efforts to revive the Community Garden, and spark a series of health and wellness initiatives in town.
 

Former Grundy Motors building to host business complex

The former Grundy Center Motors building is getting a makeover, and will soon be transformed into a mini business complex, thanks to the handiwork of local entrepreneur Vern Folkedahl. 
 
The building - which is located at 1309 G Avenue - will soon be home to three different local businesses including a small engine repair shop, an upholstery shop and an ice cream shop.

Time to fly: D-NH's Kiewiet lands Drake Relays long jump title

DES MOINES – Parker Kiewiet felt the pressure.
 
Ever since his fifth-place finish at the Drake Relays long jump as a sophomore, he said he's wanted to get back here for a chance to win it all.
 
With his friends, teammates and family coming down from Dike- New Hartford to Drake Stadium to watch him compete, he wanted to deliver on what has, so far, been a stellar junior season.
 
But in his first few jumps, Kiewiet felt obligated to deliver: "I've gotta hit this, I've gotta hit this," Kiewiet said of his mindset. "I was really nervous."
  

New mural in progress behind Stylish Living

Two local women are leading the initiative to bring more public art to town, and brighten up the buildings and alleyways of Grundy Center.
 
Lori Grave and Steph Larson got to work on their second mural behind Larson’s Stylish Living building on Tuesday afternoon, taking advantage of the spring weather to spend the day painting.

Senator Elizabeth Warren- Warren, the firebrand former Republican from Massachusetts who made a name for herself in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, hit the circuit in Iowa a few months back and seems to live here already, constantly campaigning for Democratic State Senate candidate Eric Giddens.
