Orchard Hill Church begins work on new home

    GRUNDY CENTER — Ten years ago, a group of about 20 Grundy County families had a vision for the future. Sunday that vision took a huge step forward as Orchard Hill Church broke ground on it’s new Grundy Center worship center at the corner of M Avenue and Highway 14.
    The half hour ceremony featured prayers for the project as well as gospel music and the laying of stones as a memorial to the Lord. It concluded with ceremonial first shovels of dirt, first by the children of the church and then by project leaders.

School Board approves contracts, hiring decisions

    GRUNDY CENTER — Contracts and agreements were the major order of business for the Grundy Center School Board last Tuesday during its regular meeting at the Secondary media center.

Grundy County reports radio outage, 9-1-1 issues

The Grundy County Sheriff's Department reports that a lightning strike has disrupted emergency communication in the county. Sheriff's department radios are out as are administration and 9-11 telephones. 911 calls are currently being transferred to Hardin county.
Personnel are currently manning all fire stations in the county.

Felix Grundy Festival

Grundy Center Police Chief Doug Frost was Grand Marshal for the 2015 Felix Grundy Festival parade. The 2015 festival featured cool temperatures that brought out large crowds both Friday and Saturday.

Courthouse employees seek assistance with possible air quality issues

    GRUNDY CENTER — Several members of the Grundy County Courthouse staff met with the Board of Supervisors Monday to seek assistance with possibly serious air quality issues in the basement.

Council spars over civil citation issue

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center City Council sparred over the possible issuance of a civil citation during last Tuesday’s regular meeting.
    Mayor Brian Buhrow said the owner of property at 304 Seventh Street removed the sidewalk along the property without the proper permit or paying to have the concrete removed. He said City Attorney Seth Schroeder agreed that a code violation had occurred.
