Lucy Boyce

Lucy Irene (Sherbon) Boyce, 92, formerly of Seattle, WA, died Sunday, May 17, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Funeral services were May 20, at New Aldaya Lifescapes Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. William D. Vang

William D. Vang, 59, passed away May 11, 2015, at Lantern Park in Coralville, surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer. Bill was born to John and Diane (Stott) Vang on December 21, 1955, in Sterling, CO. A graveside service was held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter on May 15 followed by a gathering at the American Legion Post 403.
Memorial donations can be directed to the Care Initiatives Hospice at 3720 Queen Court SW Ste 9 Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. Funeral arrangements were provided by Iowa Cremation.

Carol I. Stevens

Carol I. Stevens, 88, of Conrad passed away May 11, 2015, at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook. Funeral serviceswere May 15 at the Conrad United Methodist Church with Reverend Gene Kubli officiating. Private family interment was at the Alice Cemetery. Ultimate Mileage Vehicles set new bests

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center High School Ultimate Mileage Vehicle program continues to set new highs. This year the students entered three cars in the competition last week at Southeast Polk High School, placing as high as sixth out of 35 conventionally fueled cars.

New pastor has big plans for Orchard Hill Church

GRUNDY CENTER — New Orchard Hill Church Grundy Center pastor Brian Steenhoek is used to taking positions where his role is to plant new churches. His new role puts him in position to build one.
Steenhoek became Orchard Hill’s new leader earlier this year and has since been part of a process that should see the church break ground on its new campus south of Rose Hill Cemetery later this year.
