BCLUW softball field renamed David Lee Field (PHOTOS)

CONRAD – Prior to BCLUW softball's game against Marshalltown at the Dave Lee Classic on Friday, the tournament's namesake was honored further as the long-time Comet coach was present for the renaming of BCLUW's softball field to David Lee Field.

Lee started coaching with BCL in 1976 and went 991-539 over his 39-year tenure. In 2008, he was inducted into the Iowa Girls Coaches Association's Hall of Fame.

Former Comets joined this year's Comet team and members of the BCLUW School Board on the field as part of the naming ceremony.

Then again, BCLUW Principal Kristyn Kell isn’t interested in doing the same thing and getting the same results.

It's already going too fast

Because “summer” never really begins until school is out, it feels like we’ve missed a whole two weeks now that it’s officially shifting into gear. I’ve already checked two summer festivals off of my annual list, and I haven’t written a column in forever—perhaps because I’m just not in the mood for scolding or political debate.
