Parker earns NICL East Player of Year honor

    DIKE — Dike-New Hartford senior Carson Parker has been recognized as the top player in the North Iowa Cedar League East Division.
    Parker was recognized by league coaches as they announced the league’s all-conference team. Parker was one of four Wolverines recognized, joining second-team pick Byron Fritch and honorable mention picks Ben Cuvelier and Gabe Eiklenborg. All four honored Wolverines are seniors.

Three earn Academic All-State hoop honors

    Three local seniors have been honored for their efforts in the classroom as well as on the basketball floor.
    AGWSR’s Taylor Risius and Dike-New Hartford’s Alexa Schmitz have been named to the girls’ Basketball Academic All-State team, as selected by the Iowa Girls’ Athletic Coaches Association, while Byron Fritch has been selected to the boys’ Academic All-State team as selected by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association.

Grundy Center City Council approves Fiscal 2015 budget

    GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center City Council approved its Fiscal 2015 budget during Monday’s regular meeting, setting the wheels in motion for the upcoming fiscal year.

Supervisors, engineer’s office discuss right of way request

    GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy County Board of Supervisors approved a request from the Grundy County Engineer’s Office to attempt to purchase right of way near a pair of bridges that will be repaired in the near future.
    County Engineer Gary Mauer approached the Supervisors with the plan to buy right of way near bridge H-10 south of Dike on 180th Street and bridge N-17 west of Conrad on H Avenue.

Kenneth Tack

Kenneth Alvin Tack son of Richard and Etta (Lindeman) Tack was born on Saturday November 17, 1923, in rural Wellsburg. He was received into Heaven on February 26, 2014, in Grundy Center.
Funeral services were March 3 at the Hitesville Gospel Hall rural Aplington, with burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery, rural Wellsburg. Visitation was Sunday at Redman-Schwartz Chapel in Aplington. Memorials may be directed to his family.
