Common bond brings Dove, Smith together

DIKE — Tessa Smith and Ashtyn Dove are best friends. They go to the mall together, hang out like sisters and laugh the giggly laugh that only they know about.
The two also share a common bond — one that brought them together and has opened a whole new world to Smith, who suffers from Ataxia-Telangiectasia, the same disease that her brother Tate suffered from before his death.
When Tate was being treated for cancer, it was Ashtyn, who had seen her brother Brady pass away from cancer, and her family that was there for the Smiths.

Following an executive session, Supervisor Mark Schildroth summed up his frustration with the situation in a simple motion.
